It's good to get away as a family. Must get harder as the children grow up.
It's a different sort of challenge as opposed to when they were little - the need to try to actually get them enthused about doing things rather than just staying indoors on their mobiles all the time. Turned out the place we stayed at had zero phone reception - a blessing in disguise - we ended up doing more than we would've as a result. I think it's vital to keep engaging them as they go through the whole indolent adolescent phase - to keep those lines of communication open.
