Garden Changes

The chickens have left us so the coop/run area needs modifications...Still want to keep the passionfruit vine though...

A Variegated corner...

Strawberry pot awaits new seedlings...

Some things haven't changed - the monster vine has returned although I think it's resurrected itself too late in the season to yield me any pumpkins...

The bunnies have departed as well... so I gave away their Chateau to someone on Freecycle.  This corner needs something...

Replacing this corner with new plantings... now that the chickens aren't there to dig them up.

    1. Sigh - the chooks were given away to a lovely lady to knew how to care for them - living in suburbia often means that when you ask a neighbour to care for your animals, they will look blankly at you when asked to look after chickens. The bunnies were a heartbreaking story. When we were in Melbourne, our neighbour who was looking after our bunnies (who were under the pergola in a south side of the garden - coolest section), found they had died of heat stroke on that horrible 46C day. They had lots of water but the heat was just too much for them. We were heartbroken when she rang us to tell us in Melbourne :(

  2. Oh Lilian, those poor rabbits........on the stinking hot days I am thankful that ours are out and about and able to find the coolest spots for themselves, but one of ours, Cleo is elderly now, as in rabbit years, and I worry that one day I will find her asleep forever somewhere in the yard..this heat has just been unbearable for us, and I wonder just how much our pets can take this year....
so sorry to hear about them, :(

  3. Yes had we been home, we would've taken them inside or hosed them down periodically through the day. It's been heartbreaking which is why I don't think we'll be getting any more :(
