Every morning I am greeted with more passionfruit munched on by Mr Possum so in an act of desperation despite all research suggesting otherwise, I picked some of the passionfruit (the ones that had most 'yellow' amid the dark green). An experiment to see if they do indeed ripen off the vine... placing them strategically close to the mandarins/oranges in the hope that the ethylene gas they emit would aid in the ripening... one can only hope...

The lone yellow one is the only one that dropped off the vine before Mr Possum got to it - the others are all plucked off. |
Have you tried spraying them with a chili garlic spray? That often will deter pests, and since you will not be eating the skin it will not affect the flavor.
ReplyDeleteNow that's an idea! I will give that a go - not sure how long it will last because it's been pouring rain non-stop for the past 2 days...
DeleteOh no! After waiting so long it must be really disappointing! Keep us updated on whether or not they ripen.
ReplyDeleteI intend to do just that. Some do seem to be getting more yellow. So I wait in hope.
